Threshold inconsistencies in TENDL-2025 neutron production data: reproducible diagnosis and reaction-rate sensitivity

Connor Avila · Avila Labs

Study summary

Four archived TENDL-2025 neutron evaluations contain nonzero ground-state (n,2n) production cross sections at explicitly tabulated energies where the corresponding reaction totals are zero.

The study documents the Fe-53m, Cl-35, Zr-88, and Y-88 source records and examines reaction-rate sensitivity by zeroing one production ordinate. Under an illustrative Gaussian spectrum, the original-to-modified Cl-35 fold ratio is approximately 1118; all four tested point values at 14.1 MeV remain unchanged.

The modified tables are experimental sensitivity variants, not qualified replacement evaluations. The study makes no reactor, inventory, or dose-impact claim.

Reproducibility

The Zenodo dataset contains the protocol, Python scripts, independent checker, saved numerical results, input identities, and a readable supplement. Full reruns require the exact archived TENDL input files; bulk third-party nuclear data are not included. Original content is rights reserved, with identified third-party licenses retained.
